COVID 19 - Everything you need to know

Below we have detailed our re-opening plans, how we are handling memberships, the options members have and how we are operating the club.

At Wye Leisure we have taken the safety of our members and staff to the upmost levels and hopefully our club users can see our commitment to keeping the club Covid-Secure.  The adoption of these measures by our members is appreciated.

The current Lock-Down is due to end at midnight on Tuesday, 1st of December.  Wye Leisure will re-open on Wednesday, 2nd of December.  Bookings can now be made via the WyeFitness App.  (Bookings can be made up to 13 days in advance, of current day).

Wye Leisure will run in exactly the same manner as we did prior to lock-down 2 and we will expect all users of the club to continue to adopt our Covid Secure ways of using the facility at all times.  If you are unsure of the details, please refer to the relevant section within this page.

Memberships have already been updated and extended to reflect the lock-down, as we did before.  Memberships and usage will automatically restart on Wednesday, 2nd December, unless you have told us otherwise.  Please note, unless you are wanting to amend the status of your membership and how we are handling your membership, there is no need to reaffirm the status.  Further details of how we handle memberships can be found in the relevant section on this page.

Any member who is still frozen and would like to start using the facility can inform us of this by completing our form – Click Here

If you do not have access to the App, have trouble making bookings or have any further questions, our phone lines are intermittently manned during our closure.  Please  call 01432 860860 – Monday to Friday, 9.30am to 2.30pm or leave a message and we’ll call you back.

Finally, this is great news for us and we really look forward in welcoming you all back to the club in the coming weeks.

If government advise the closure of the facility, Wye Leisure will automatically freeze memberships.  Lost membership would then be added back as government allow the facility to re-open.  Members making use of the facility after Lock-Down 1 (So members who asked to restart their membership after lock down 1 or took out new membership) will have membership/usage re-instated immediately as we are allowed to re-open, in the manner to which they were using the club, prior to being closed.  Members not wishing for this to happen must contact us, prior to our sector being allowed to re-open.  The easiest way to undertake this, is to complete our online form – Click Here

Members have the option to freeze their memberships whilst social distancing measures and/or government guidance dictates, during the Covid-19 pandemic.  This policy will be reviewed and removed as required by Wye Leisure.  If any member wishes to freeze their membership, they must contact us to undertake this as it can not be undertaken retrospectively.  If frozen, any membership remaining will be added back, once membership restarts.

Any member who had a valid membership as of closing the club in Lock Down 1, may also have the option to utilize a Pay-as-You-Go option, in addition to the option to freeze membership.  If you would like further details on this option, please contact us on 01432 860860.

Please note – Inline with our club rules, membership fees are not refundable.

Making use of Wye Leisure like other activities we are used to undertaking, is not as before lock-down.  Not in the short-term anyway. To implement social distancing measures, in the short-term we will be limiting the usage of club’s facilities.

  1. If you have not already started usage of the club since we re-opened from Lock-Down 1, in the summer of 2020, members must first notify us of their intention by completing our Online Form – Click Here
  2. Usage of the club will only be possible if a Pre-Booked Slot/Reservation has been made via the WyeFitness App.
  3. Members will not be able to bring in guests at this time. We are not allowing spectators whilst social distancing recommended.
  4. Children cannot reserve slots, however any adult booking the correct slot may bring in up to two child on the adult’s reservation, providing that the child resides at the same address or is in the guardianship of the attending adult member and then providing that the child held a valid membership as at the 18th of March 2020. A strict ratio of 1:2 (2 children to 1 fee paying adult) will be operation until further notice. Note: This ratio is inclusive of children and babies
    under the age of 5.
  5. Club users with any symptom of Covid-19 (where information cannot be given as to any other health related reason for having such symptoms) must not attempt to make use of the facility and will be asked to leave.
  6. Club users will be automatically scanned with thermal screening systems on entering the building. Access will be stopped to any club user if found to
    be 37.8°C or hotter.
  7. In the short-term we will not be taking cash payments and ask all customers to settle bills with Credit, Debit/Credit Card or Contactless.
  8. Club users must adhere to all processes introduced as part of our Covid-19 Safe risk assessments.
  9. Club users are asked to come as prepared as they can. If using the gym please try to come ready, if using the pools, please come with your bathing suit
on with normal clothes over, to reduce time spent in the changing rooms. If possible, we ask that club users shower at home, however the shower facilities
    will be open.
  10. Lockers will remain in use, however we ask members to utilise the anti-viral sanitising spay and paper towelling to wipe down your locker and changing area once you are finished.
  11. The use of your own Gym Towel will be prohibited. Instead Gym users must take a bottle of anti-viral sanitising spray and paper towelling with them (Keep the bottle whilst in the gym) to thoroughly wipe down each machine or piece of equipment after use.
  12. Use of the Pool Lounger Screening and Pool Lounger Cleaning Discs must be used.
  13. Pool Hall Users must follow the clear signage showing bather loads for the pools, spa pools and number of people allowed in them at any one time. Following the government guidance the saunas and steam rooms must remain closed.
  14. Wye Leisure will not be loaning out any swimming aids or equipment at this time. Members must bring their own personal equipment.
  15. Face coverings should be used as directed by the government.

As of Thursday 24th September all customers will need to be using a face covering as stipulated on the government website.  We have checked this guidance with the environmental health officers at the Hereford Council and they confirm that:

Face coverings must be worn:

  • On entering the club
  • In the reception, lobby, changing rooms
  • As you walk through all other communal  areas.

Face coverings  do not need to be worn if you are (excluding the beauty department, that has separate rules):

  • Lounging around the pool hall
  • Walking from your lounger to the swimming pools, spa pools or Hydro Spa Pool
  • Using the swimming pools or spa pools
  • Using the Hot Beds
  • Working out in the fitness suite
  • Engaging in an exercise class

All customers will only be allowed access after washing their hands and being scanned via our thermal imaging camera.  We ask all members to make use of alcohol gel dispensers located around the facility on a regular basis.

We are now operating a Table Side Ordering Only service around the pool halls and in the coffee shop.

To highlight to our staff you would like to place an order, simply flip over the reflector at your table and then the reflector on the way into the pool hall and we will come to you around the pool, to take your order.

Unfortunately, this is going to be an added task for the coffee shop team and may cause a slight delay in getting through orders.  We will do our absolute best to ensure we get to you as quickly as we can, but thank members for their patience in advance.

This same system may also be used for members wishing to order food to be eaten in the coffee shop.  Please just plan ahead and let us know.

Usage of Wye Leisure whilst socially distancing is via booking only.  Bookings can be made via our WyeFitness App or by calling the club on 01432 860860.  Bookings can be made 13 days in advance.  This booking system is being utilised to ensure good social distancing is maintained at all times.

On re-opening from Lock-Down 2.0 – If Herefords tier allows us to run exercise classes, we will automatically add the participants who were booked in, as we went into lock-down 2.  Any remaining places will be available to others as of Thursday, 26th December, via the App, in the normal manner.  If you do not have access to the App or would rather book via the telephone, please call us on 01432 860860.
